What are National Savings and Investments?

National Savings and Investments (NS&I) are backed by HM Treasury, which makes them a totally secure place to invest. They are probably most famous for Premium Bonds, but offer a wide variety of saving and investment options:

• Fixed Interest Savings Certificates (No issues currently on sale)
• Index Linked Savings Certificates (No issues currently on sale)
• Children's Bonus Bonds
• Income Bonds
• Investment Account
• Easy Access Savings Account
• Guaranteed Equity Bonds (No issues currently on sale)
• Guaranteed Income Bonds (No issues currently on sale)
• Guaranteed Growth Bonds (No issues currently on sale)

All NS&I products are deposit based, which means that you are guaranteed to receive back at least the amount that you have paid in. NS&I interest rates are not always very competitive, but they offer a safer alternative for cautious investors.
